
My name is Emily and I love to make collages.
I do this by cutting up paper and using paint, mostly water colour,
and mainly make collages to tell mini-stories about mental health and living well.
I have a psychological vulnerability myself and collaging helps me to increase my quality of life by processing what is happening to me. I hope that by sharing my experiences I can connect to others by offering recognition, some help or a laugh or cry. Because life is better when shared.
Making collages is also a lot of fun! I see it as playing with colours, shapes and images until I find a composition that I like. Often I start with a word or short sentence and use this as inspiration. I keep associating images with this text until I feel the collage feels right. That is when I know I am done and the collage is ready.
